Affiliate & sponsorship disclosure

The short version is already on every page it applies to — this is the longer version, for anyone who wants the full policy in one place.

How this site makes money

Right now, it doesn't. There are no affiliate links, no sponsorships, no display advertising and no data sales. The rest of this page sets out the rules that will apply if affiliate links are ever added.

The rule that separates money from scores

The code that computes a platform's score cannot import affiliate, revenue or commission data — this is enforced by a lint rule that fails the build, not a promise. See methodology for the full architecture. A platform can score well with no affiliate relationship at all, and a platform we earn commission from can score poorly if the evidence says so.

What's disclosed, and where

If affiliate links are added, every review and comparison page will carry a one-line disclosure right where the outbound link appears — not just buried in this page — and those links will use rel="nofollow sponsored" per search-engine guidelines for paid/affiliate links.

Sponsorships

We don't currently run paid sponsorships or placements. If that changes, any sponsored content will be clearly labeled as such, visually distinct from editorial rankings, and will never alter a score — the same rule that applies to affiliate relationships applies here.

What we'll never do

  • remove a negative finding because a partner asked
  • let commission size influence a ranking
  • publish a sponsored placement without labeling it as one
