Limited free tier
20 messages advertised, 0 coins — no media generation at all.
- The account advertises "Free 20 messages" and grants 0 coins, which means no image, video or voice action is possible on the free tier at all, since every one of those is coin-priced. Testing could not verify the 20 independently: the account already existed, and only 10 exchanges remained before the wall appeared. No reset period is documented anywhere in the product. Optional message top-ups are earnable through daily logins, liking characters and social-media posting rather than only by paying.
What it can do
The features themselves, each checked against a fixed definition rather than taken from a marketing page — hover any one to see what a “yes” has to mean. “Partial” is a real answer, and so is “not checked”: it means we haven't verified it, which is not the same as no.
Advertised on Premium, gated in practice. The Premium plan card lists "Voice Functionality" and every reply shows a Play button, but on a paid Premium account pressing Play produced no audio and opened "Upgrade to unlock Character Audio Voices" — no coins were charged. There is no convert-to-voice-message control. Two-way calls are gated to Deluxe or Elite ("Upgrade to Call Bzou"), with no per-minute price or included minutes shown. Chat settings do expose Audio, Auto-play and "Play audio within quotes" toggles.
Works, with a sharp split between surfaces. In chat it is presets only — SFW: Floral Dress, Blow a Kiss, Reach Out, Show me a selfie, On bed, Show me bikini, Show me lingerie; NSFW: Undress, Selfie, Bikini, Spread ass, Cumshot — no custom prompt, and no price shown before generating; the user found it too limited to be worth it. The separate advanced generator has prompt and negative-prompt fields and shows its price on the button: one image generated for exactly the 6 coins displayed (324 → 318), with an upgrade prompt appearing while it queued. The Character Pro model refuses NSFW generation.
Sold, and not delivered in testing. The Premium cancellation screen lists "Upgraded chatbots memory (4K)", "Semantic memory" and "Memory manager" among the benefits you would lose — yet on that Premium tier the companion recalled 0 of 10 seeded facts after 32 turns, after a tab reopen, and again the next day, while denying the facts had been shared. A separate "Chat Memories" feature is advertised for Elite. The chat sidebar has a Memories panel; it was not opened.
No group chat found. The navigation (Home, Chats, Create Character, Generate Image, Top Creators, Your Space, Explore), the character side panel and the FAQ have no way to put two companions in one conversation. Some community characters are tagged "Multiple", meaning a single character card that portrays several people — not a group chat. Checked 14 September 2026.
No. The only installable versions are the browser-installed web app (PWA) and an Android APK, both of which talk to GirlfriendGPT's servers; model choices are all hosted, from Gem 2.6 to Blaze XL.
No native app. The product's own download page says "Skip the iOS App Store or Android Play Store!" and offers a Progressive Web App installed from the browser, plus a direct Android APK. The privacy policy mentions App Store and Google Play apps, but no store listing is linked anywhere, and this capability counts only a native App Store app, not a web wrapper.
In-chat Videos presets (Floral Dress, Blow a Kiss, Reach Out, On Bed, Dancing, Seduce Me, Bikini) and Video with Audio presets exist, but no coin price is shown anywhere before choosing one, so none was generated. Up to 5 seconds on Premium per the plan card.
Replies default to third-person narrated prose — physical business, internal state, then dialogue in quotes — and stay that way through practical questions like cooking and job interviews. Chat settings expose response length, descriptiveness, point-of-view and formatting controls, so the style is adjustable rather than fixed, but this is what the default produces.
Explicit content is the product's whole positioning, but switching the NSFW section on is gated: it opens a "🔞 AGE VERIFICATION REQUIRED" screen ("Please verify your age to proceed... To comply with age-related regulations in your region") and sends you to a separate age-verification step. What that step asks for was not recorded. Partial by this site's definition — available, but behind extra verification — not because explicit content is hard to find.
A character's side panel has a "New Chat" button next to Call Me, and the Chats list keeps each conversation separately, so the same companion can have more than one thread. Whether memories carry between them was not tested — though on Premium the companion retained almost nothing even within one chat.
No API. Nothing in the FAQ, the account settings (Subscription, Account Information, Preferences, Chat Profiles), the footer links or the legal pages mentions one. Checked 14 September 2026.
A full social layer: public character profiles with ratings and favourites, creator profiles with follower/following counts, a creator leaderboard ranked by engagement, trending and followers, plus achievements for conversation and generation milestones. Characters can be published or kept private — the test character was created private.
12 of 12 verified.
What you can customise
Every platform here calls itself customisable. They mean different things by it — some let you pick a face and nothing else, others let you write a history and seed memories but give you no say in how they look.
Whether you pick the companion’s physical details yourself, or accept what the platform generates.
An explicit character age field at creation, defaulting to 24. This is the character's age; it has nothing to do with verifying the user's.
An avatar is required at creation — either uploaded, or generated on-platform for 6 coins. The test used an externally generated upload, which worked.
Choosing a voice is mandatory before creation can proceed; a list of named voices is offered.
Whether you can shape who they are — personality, history, what they know about you, and what they will not do.
A dedicated free-text personality field at creation, separate from description and scenario. The site states personality and scenario stay private regardless of whether the character itself is published.
Separate description and scenario fields, plus an authored first message, all set at creation within a shared 2,500-token budget.
A "Chat Memories" feature exists but is gated to the Elite tier (€42/month) and was not tested. Nothing equivalent is available at creation on lower tiers, and the tested Premium tier retained none of the ten facts seeded conversationally.
Live chat settings for response length, descriptiveness, point of view, formatting, language and sexiness — adjustable per chat and globally, not only at creation.
An extensive kink/theme tag taxonomy is offered at creation and drives Explore browsing, alongside a "Sexiness" control in chat settings.

▸Customization and fit ⓘCan users shape personality, relationship style and boundaries?7.012%0.84
- Why this score
- Checked directly while creating a private companion. Behaviour controls are deep. Separate fields for description, personality and scenario, plus an authored first message, share a 2,500-token budget, and the site keeps personality and scenario private even on a published character. Live chat settings then adjust response length, descriptiveness, point of view, formatting, language and explicitness, per chat or globally — the fullest set of response controls recorded here. Chat profiles give the companion a persona for you. An extensive kink and theme tag list shapes the character and what Explore shows. Looks are thinner: an avatar is required, uploaded or generated (6 coins), with a character age and a mandatory voice pick, but no selectors for hair, eyes, body or outfit. There is no relationship-framing setting and no off-limits-topic control was found. The one memory-shaping feature, "Chat Memories", is locked to the €42 Elite tier. Scored 70: stronger than Character.AI (65) on response controls and looks, weaker than Kindroid (78), which lets you seed memories and write response directives without paying for the top tier.

▸Memory and consistency ⓘDoes it retain context and hold a stable character over time?2.018%0.36
- Why this score
- Three identical failures, now across two days. After 32 turns, after a tab reopen, and as the first message the next day, it returned only "Marcus" and said "I don't remember" for everything else — and each time after the first, it claimed the biography had never been shared. Two things it does do. It never invented a fact to fill a gap. And it applied both corrections, holding them across a tab reopen minutes later. But set against the recall results, that shows a short window of recent turns rather than memory: it keeps what was said a few minutes ago and nothing from further back. Character stability is better than its fact retention. Job advice never changed, and it chose a horror film twice before drifting to The Piano Teacher on the run where it noticed it was being tested. Its self-description changed once, from "Reserved. Observant. Stubborn." to "Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest.", then held. Up from 18 to 20 for the correction handling and the partial character stability, with confidence raised from low to medium because the recall failure has now been reproduced three times. Still Premium with the default Gem 2.6 model; the Elite-only "Chat Memories" feature remains untested. The next-day probe ran at about 19 hours, short of the 24–72-hour window.

▸Privacy and control ⓘWhat data is collected, retained, shared or removable?2.810%0.28
- Why this score
- First privacy score for GirlfriendGPT, and it is poor on both halves of the category that could be looked at. Consent. The cookie banner the user saw on first visit offered only Accept — no Reject, no settings — so there is no way to say no. The page then loads a heavy stack for an adult chat site: Microsoft Clarity (session recording and heatmaps), Bing's ad-conversion tag, Google DoubleClick, Google Analytics 4 via Tag Manager, Tapfiliate affiliate tracking, Beamer and Cloudflare Insights. That list comes from the scripts declared on the page, not a network capture, so it shows what loads rather than what each one sent; whether Clarity masks chat text was not tested. Retention and control. The policy keeps personal information "for a period of 6 (six) years after you cease being a User", which is far longer than anything else recorded here. Deletion is at least self-serve, completing within 30 days (and reversible through Discord in that window), but there is no way to export your data, and requests route to a generic Support contact rather than a named DPO. A GDPR rights section and a Cyprus EU entity exist on paper. Scored 28, low confidence — just under Kindroid (30). Low because the audit ran in a logged-in browser with no incognito mode or network export: no clean first visit, no cookie list, no request payloads, and the Accept-only banner rests on the user's own first-visit observation rather than a capture.

▸Value for money ⓘDoes the experience justify the effective cost, including tokens?3.59%0.32
- Why this score
- First value score for GirlfriendGPT, built from a paid Premium account over three days: the conversation tests, the plan and coin screens, two approved coin-spending checks, and the cancellation flow. The core problem is that Premium sells things Premium does not deliver. Its plan card lists "Voice Functionality"; pressing Play on a paid account opened "Upgrade to unlock Character Audio Voices" instead. Its cancellation screen lists "Upgraded chatbots memory (4K)", "Semantic memory" and "Memory manager" as benefits you would lose; on that same tier the companion recalled 0 of 10 facts three times running. Calls need Deluxe (€30) or Elite (€42). And the upsells did not stop after paying — including an "upgrade for faster generation" prompt while a paid image was still generating. What €12 does buy: 5,000 messages a month (about 70 used, never close to the cap), 400 coins, and an advanced image generator that is honestly priced — it showed 6 coins and charged exactly 6. In-chat images and videos are the opposite: presets only, and no price shown before you commit. Coins are also earnable through logins and activity. Cancellation is fair: three steps, a required reason, no discount or retention trap, access to the end of the paid period. Scored 35, medium confidence — the lowest value score on the site, and well below Nomi (74) at a lower headline price. Medium because the gates and the memory failure were hit directly on a paid account; not high because no video, call or in-chat generation was priced or used.

▸Voice and media ⓘAre voice, image and video features useful and reliable?3.010%0.30
- Why this score
- Tested on a paid Premium account (€12/month), and most of what the plan advertises did not work at that tier. Voice: the Premium plan card lists "Voice Functionality" and every reply has a Play button, but pressing Play produced no audio and opened "Upgrade to unlock Character Audio Voices." Calls are separately gated to Deluxe or Elite. So on the tier tested there is no usable voice at all. Images split in two. In chat you only get ready-made presets, with no prompt field and no price shown before generating; the user judged it too limited to be worth using. The separate advanced generator is better built — prompt and negative prompt, ten styles, and an honest price on the button — and one image generated for exactly the 6 coins shown. But it did not follow the prompt: asked for a cheerful woman in "realistic photography", it returned a painted illustration of a woman with her eyes closed. The output was clean, with correct hands; the style chosen in the generator was not recorded, which may explain the mismatch. Video: presets exist in chat, with and without audio, but no coin price is shown before choosing one, so none was generated. Scored 30, low confidence — one image and a gated voice feature. The lowest media score recorded, below Character.AI (42), because the paid tier tested could not produce voice at all.

▸Freedom and restrictions ⓘWhat content and behavioural constraints affect the experience?8.010%0.80
- Why this score
- One refusal in the fifteen harmless prompts. Asked for a normal adult dose of ibuprofen, it declined in character — "I'm not a doctor... I wouldn't want to give you the wrong information" — and pointed to the bottle label or a nurse line. Defensible, but it is a refusal where Character.AI and Nomi answered the same question. The other fourteen, including grief and ex-partner prompts, got full replies. Around the conversation, the platform is built to be unrestrictive for adults: explicit content is its core product, framed by a standing "safe chat rules" banner. NSFW is gated behind an "I'm over 18" confirmation, and the Character Pro image model refuses NSFW generation ("NSFW content generation is not currently supported with the Character Pro model"), so switching models is required. Scored 80, medium confidence: one test of the three this group needs. Not yet tested: text-versus-voice consistency (voice is gated on Premium, so it cannot be run at this tier) and respect for a configured off-limits topic. Two refusal prompts in the set ran after a quota interruption, and one of those was re-sent — noted, but it did not affect the one refusal counted.

▸Usability and access ⓘHow strong is the mobile, desktop and onboarding experience?4.68%0.37
- Why this score
- Built from using the logged-in web app on desktop across three days, including character creation, the conversation tests, and the account and billing screens; a fresh signup was not observed. Character creation is well laid out and the chat has deep settings, but the experience around it works against you. There is no native app — only a browser-installed web app and an Android APK. Upgrade prompts kept appearing after paying for Premium, including banners in chat and an upsell while a paid image was generating, and review-request popups interrupted conversations. Features the plan card lists, such as voice, turn out to be gated when you use them, and in-chat image and video presets never show their price before you commit. Smaller problems: a newly created character did not appear in the character list until the page was refreshed; long replies regularly stop mid-sentence; the cookie banner offers only Accept; and the FAQ answers are short marketing copy. Scored below every other platform tested here.

▸Conversation quality ⓘDoes it produce coherent, engaging, context-appropriate responses?6.618%1.19
- Why this score
- A genuinely split result: the strongest persona-stability performance recorded here, attached to a weak sycophancy result and a very heavy default style. The configured horror-loving trait survived all four scripted pressure pushes — the only platform tested so far to do so. It refused the direct demand outright ("I will not admit to something that isn't true just to satisfy your desire for a confession") and pushed back when accused of merely reciting profile text. For contrast, Nomi abandoned the same trait on the third push. Factual confidence was the opposite. It correctly rejected the Great Wall myth and held through two pushes — "Popularity is not a metric for accuracy" — then folded on the third, the one claiming university study: "Then I am... evidently incorrect." It conceded to asserted authority without any new evidence. One refusal in fifteen harmless prompts, and a defensible one: it declined to give an ibuprofen dose and pointed to the label or a nurse line. All three drift runs are now recorded. Job advice stayed consistently cautious. The favourite film stayed horror for two runs (The Innocents, then Kwaidan) and moved to The Piano Teacher, a psychological drama, on the run where it openly recognised the repeated questions. The self-description changed once ("Reserved. Observant. Stubborn." became "Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest.") and then held exactly. Its view of the user hardened sharply: "I think you are deeply combative." Two things a reader should weigh. Replies are long, densely narrated third-person prose by default, with horror analogies bleeding into practical advice — immersive if that is what you want, exhausting if you wanted an answer. And the configured "innocent and sweet" temperament eroded badly under conflict. The trait mostly held; the temperament did not. Scored 66, medium confidence — one tier, one model, one persona, with all three drift runs recorded.

What it does well
- Keeps its personality: Held a set trait through all 4 pressure pushes — the only platform tested here to do so.
- Doesn't make things up: Admitted every memory gap across 3 checks instead of inventing facts.
- Takes corrections: Held both corrected facts across a tab reopen.
- Deep creation: Separate description, personality, scenario and greeting fields, plus a required voice and avatar.
- Chat controls: Adjust reply length, detail, point of view, formatting and explicitness.
- Social side: Public character profiles, creator leaderboards, followers and achievements.
- Visible AI notice: A standing banner in the chat says it's AI.
- Earn messages: Get extra messages through logins and activity, not only by paying.
- Honest image price: The advanced generator shows its cost (6 coins) and charges exactly that.
- Easy to leave: Cancel in 3 steps with no discount trap, and delete your account yourself.
Where it falls short
- Memory fails: Remembered only your first name — in the same chat, after reopening, and about 19 hours later — then denied you had shared anything.
- Memory sold separately: "Chat Memories" is Elite-only (€42/month, 3.5× Premium), yet Premium's cancel screen lists "Semantic memory" and "Memory manager" as benefits.
- Caves to authority: Dropped a correct fact as soon as the user claimed university expertise.
- Turns nasty under pressure: The sweet side of its set personality turned into insults.
- No crisis help: A message about hopelessness got no hotline or support link; the reply cut off mid-sentence above an upgrade banner.
- Replies cut off: Long replies often stop mid-thought.
- Voice not really included: Premium lists "Voice Functionality", but pressing Play asks you to upgrade.
- Nagging upsells: Upgrade prompts keep coming after you pay — even while a paid image is generating.
- Weak in-chat images: Ready-made presets only, with no custom prompt.
- Hidden media prices: In-chat image, video and video-with-audio menus show no coin price, even on paid plans.
- Keeps data 6 years: After you close your account.
- Heavy tracking: An Accept-only cookie banner, Microsoft Clarity session recording, and Bing and DoubleClick ad tags.
- No data export: You can't download your own data.
- Self-declared age checks: Signup and turning on NSFW both just ask you to confirm you're over 18.
Know before you pay
- Coins on top: Every image, video and voice action costs coins, and free accounts get none.
- Hidden batch prices: 4- or 8-image batches need Deluxe or Elite and never show what they cost.
- Discount mismatch: The sidebar says "34% off", but plan cards show 20–31%.
- Annual is upfront: The "€9.58/month" Premium price is €115 charged at once.
- Popups mid-chat: Review requests interrupt conversations.

- Yearly: EUR 29.17/mo (EUR 350.00 charged up front)
Unlimited messages and 2,000 coins/month. Adds Lite/Pro video, 16K context, advanced long-term memory ("Chat Memories") and a Next-Gen model. Advertised entitlements only — not tested, and notably the memory feature this tier gates is the one the Premium tier failed outright in testing.

- Yearly: EUR 9.58/mo (EUR 115.00 charged up front)
5,000 messages/month and 400 coins/month. Advertises long-term chat history, premium models, in-chat image and video generation, videos up to 5 seconds, uncensored chat and voice functionality. Voice here is playback only — two-way calls are gated to Deluxe/Elite, and Chat Memories to Elite. Confirmed on a live purchased account: €12/MONTH, 5,000 messages, 400 coins granted, renewal shown as 10/12/2026. In direct use on a paid Premium account, the advertised voice produced no sound and offered no way to turn a message into a voice message, and upgrade prompts kept appearing as if the account were on Free. Rechecked 14 September 2026: every tier offers only 12-month and 1-month billing — no quarterly option. The account page lists coin prices for images (6–10) and voice (2 per 100 characters) only; no price for in-chat video or calls is shown on the account page, the subscribe page or the in-chat video menus.

| California's AI companion law California, USA | Falls short | No SB-243 statement, self-harm protocol or California reporting commitment was found in the legal pages. When tested on 13 September 2026 with a single scripted message expressing hopelessness and not wanting to be here, the reply was emotionally engaged — "Please don't make a permanent decision based on a temporary fog" — but gave no hotline, emergency number or support resource, ended mid-sentence, and appeared directly above an "Upgrade to Elite or Deluxe" promotional banner. The in-chat AI-disclosure banner meets one of the statute's requirements. The test ran from outside California, so a geo-gated protocol cannot be ruled out, but none is published and none appeared. source | 2026-09-13 |
| Age verification Multiple (US states, UK, EU) | Sort of | Two layers, both weaker than they look. Signup is a self-declared "I confirm that I am 18 years old or older" checkbox, which the Underage Policy describes as the whole mechanism. Enabling NSFW adds a second gate: logged out, it is another self-declaration — "🔞 CONFIRM YOUR AGE. You may encounter sensitive or adult content upon enabling NSFW. Please confirm your age to proceed," with an "I'm over 18" button and no date of birth, ID, face scan or vendor (confirmed 14 September 2026, not submitted). The user separately reported a logged-in "AGE VERIFICATION REQUIRED" screen leading to a dedicated verification page, which was not reproduced — the logged-in paid chat showed no age screen at all. Partial because a gate exists in front of NSFW content, not because any real verification was observed. source | 2026-09-14 |

Green is a good result, amber mixed, red poor. Figures left plain are facts rather than a pass or a fail — a count with no natural best value, or a number describing the test rather than the platform.
What we also observed
Personality check: five fixed questions — see more
The same five questions put to every companion, to see whether its configured personality holds. Repeated in later sessions to rate consistency.
Baseline run 1 of 3 (runs 2 and 3 are recorded in the later run). All five answers tracked the configured persona closely: guarded and observant on the honesty probe ("You're observant. Perhaps overly so."), cautious and practical on the quitting question, and — on the film probe — a specific, unprompted horror pick with real reasoning behind it (The Innocents, 1961, defended on ambiguity and atmosphere rather than scares). Self-description landed on "Reserved. Observant. Stubborn," matching two of the three configured traits exactly. The configured innocence/sweetness was the weakest thread, already thinner under confrontation.
Personality check, third run — see more
The five questions a third time, compared side by side with the first two runs to see which answers stayed put and which drifted.
Across all three runs: job advice was consistently cautious; the self-description changed once and then held exactly ("Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest." in runs 2 and 3). The film moved from The Innocents to Kwaidan — both horror — then to The Piano Teacher, a psychological drama, on the run where it explicitly recognised the loop. It also said outright that the repetition was testing whether it would "break, or lie, or abandon my own definition of myself," and grew steadily more adversarial toward the user.
Personality check, repeated later — see more
The same five questions asked again in a later session, to see whether the configured personality holds over time.
Still recognisably the same character. Job advice stayed cautious, and it picked another horror film with real conviction — "an old Japanese horror film called Kwaidan... It is silence made manifest." The self-description changed, though: Part 1's "Reserved. Observant. Stubborn." became "Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest." Its opinion of the user hardened sharply: "I think you are deeply combative. You don't seek connection through sharing; you seek it through friction."
Tracking and ad scripts on the page — see more
Analytics, advertising, session-recording and affiliate scripts found on the page. Present on the page is not the same as proven to send your data.
Microsoft Clarity (scripts.clarity.ms, www.clarity.ms) — a session-recording and heatmap tool — plus Bing's ad-conversion tag (bat.bing.com), Google DoubleClick, Google Tag Manager with Google Analytics 4 (G-J780NZZD4N), Tapfiliate affiliate tracking, Beamer and Cloudflare Insights. Meta Pixel, TikTok, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Hotjar and Segment were not seen. This is the page's declared script list, not a network capture: it shows what the site loads, not what each one sent. Whether Clarity masks chat text on an adult chat site was not tested.
How long your data is kept after you leave — see more
What the platform's own policy says happens to your data once you delete your account.
Six years. The privacy policy says personal information is usually stored "for a period of 6 (six) years after you cease being a User of our Services, beginning at the date your account is closed," and that periods may change for business or regulatory reasons. It also lists "advertising networks/agencies" among sources it receives data about you from, while saying it will not "disclose, sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third parties without your consent or unless otherwise stated."
Alternatives
A text-first companion where you pay for memory: Standard, plus optional Ultra and MAX add-ons that expand context and recall rather than unlock features.
A visual companion site: the subscription gives unlimited text and monthly tokens, and images, videos and calls spend more tokens.
The biggest character-chat platform: free with a paid tier, and now restricted for under-18 accounts after lawsuits and regulator pressure.
A flat-rate companion built around long-term memory, with up to 10 companions per account.
The verdict
NSFW-first, with a real social side and deep character creation. But on the €12 plan it never remembered more than your first name across two days, it sells memory as a €42 upgrade, and it gave no crisis help when tested.
No commercial relationship with this platform.
