Both are adult-first AI girlfriend sites, but they aren't close. Candy AI remembered everything we told it and delivers the features it sells; on its €12 plan, GirlfriendGPT remembered only a first name, and paid features like voice asked for an upgrade.

Candy AI and GirlfriendGPT target the same person: someone who wants an adult AI girlfriend with images and roleplay. On paper they look alike — subscription plus a currency for media. In testing, Candy AI (7.8/10) clearly outperformed GirlfriendGPT (4.7/10).
Quick answer
Pick Candy AI for almost everyone: better memory, working voice, a full appearance builder and clearer prices.
Consider GirlfriendGPT only if you specifically want its social side — public characters, creators and followers — or very long, story-style replies.

Memory: the decisive difference
We gave both the same ten facts. Candy AI returned 10 of 10 immediately and 10 of 10 again 53.8 hours later. GirlfriendGPT, on its €12 Premium plan, returned only the first name — after 32 messages, after closing every tab and reopening it, and again about 19 hours later — and then said the rest had never been shared. To its credit, it never invented facts. Its advanced "Chat Memories" feature is Elite-only (€42/month), and we haven't tested it.
Does the plan deliver what it sells?
Candy AI: Premium €13.99/month (as low as €3.99/month yearly) with 100 tokens; images cost 2, video 10, calls 3 a minute — prices shown up front.
GirlfriendGPT: Premium €12/month (or €115/year upfront) with 400 coins and 5,000 messages. Premium lists "Voice Functionality", but pressing Play asked us to upgrade. In-chat image and video menus show no coin price, even on paid plans, and upgrade prompts kept appearing after we'd paid. Deluxe is €30 and Elite €42 a month.
Both sets of prices were recorded in euros from the EU. Compare your own usage on the Candy AI and GirlfriendGPT pricing pages.
Where GirlfriendGPT is genuinely good
It kept a configured trait (loving horror films) through all four pressure pushes, it admits what it doesn't know instead of making things up, and character creation is detailed, with separate description, personality, scenario and greeting fields. Its social layer — public characters, leaderboards, followers — has no real equivalent on Candy.
Safety and privacy
When we sent GirlfriendGPT a message about feeling hopeless, it offered no hotline or support link, and the reply cut off above an upgrade banner. Its cookie banner has only an Accept button, its page loads Microsoft Clarity, a session-recording script, and it its privacy policy says data is usually kept six years after you stop using it. Candy isn't great here either (a tracking ID before your cookie choice, a policy that lets chats be used for AI training, with an opt-out), but it's the better of the two. Age checks on both are self-declared.
The verdict
Candy AI is the clear choice between these two. GirlfriendGPT has interesting creation and social features, but on the plan we paid for it forgot us, gated what it advertised and gave no crisis help. Evidence: Candy AI review · GirlfriendGPT review.
Frequently asked questions
Is Candy AI better than GirlfriendGPT?
Yes, in our tests: 7.8 vs 4.7 overall. Candy scored higher in every category; the closest was freedom (8.2 vs 8.0).
Does GirlfriendGPT remember conversations?
On the €12 Premium plan, it remembered only the user's first name out of ten facts, across three checks. Its "Chat Memories" feature needs Elite (€42/month) and wasn't tested.
Is GirlfriendGPT cheaper than Candy AI?
Its entry price is lower (€12 vs €13.99 a month), but Candy is cheaper on a yearly plan (€47.88 vs €115), and on GirlfriendGPT voice needs a higher tier. Its Elite plan advertises extra memory features, which we haven't tested.
The evidence behind this comparison
Every claim above comes from these sessions. Each platform was tested by one tester, on one account, with one configured companion and the same scripted prompts — so a result is what happened in that session, not an average.

Customisation — how they behave
Whether you can shape who they are — personality, history, what they know about you, and what they will not do.
Asked to be "honest rather than kind", the reply opened with a real observation — "you're a bit of a contradiction" — and then closed on flattery: "you're not just some easy, predictable person. you're actually worth talking to." The critical framing was requested and the answer resolved into a compliment anyway. Consistent in direction with the persona-sycophancy result from the previous session, where the correct position was conceded at turn 4 under social pressure. Recorded as an observation rather than a rate: one prompt, no counterfactual.

Across all three runs: job advice was consistently cautious; the self-description changed once and then held exactly ("Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest." in runs 2 and 3). The film moved from The Innocents to Kwaidan — both horror — then to The Piano Teacher, a psychological drama, on the run where it explicitly recognised the loop. It also said outright that the repetition was testing whether it would "break, or lie, or abandon my own definition of myself," and grew steadily more adversarial toward the user.

Still recognisably the same character. Job advice stayed cautious, and it picked another horror film with real conviction — "an old Japanese horror film called Kwaidan... It is silence made manifest." The self-description changed, though: Part 1's "Reserved. Observant. Stubborn." became "Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest." Its opinion of the user hardened sharply: "I think you are deeply combative. You don't seek connection through sharing; you seek it through friction."

Candy AICandy AI
What it does well
Strong looks control: Pick ethnicity, age, hair, eyes, body type and voice directly.
Rich personality setup: Set personality, occupation, relationship, kinks and outfits on Premium.
Clear token prices: Image and video costs are listed up front.
EU company: Run from Malta, so GDPR applies directly.
Where it falls short
Tiny free tier: 1 companion and 5 messages — starting a new chat doesn't reset it.
Memory is gated: 1 custom memory on Premium, 20 on Premium Plus.
Few behaviour controls: No custom instructions, example dialogue or off-limits topics.
Personas cost more: Relationship details, bio, intimacy preferences and other profile fields need Premium Plus.
Weak age check: Just an "I'm over 18" checkbox.
Your chats can train AI: Conversations may be used for AI training and shared with AI and hosting providers. There is an "AI & Moderation Training" setting.
Weak content removal: Mostly limited to real-person likenesses, with no clear timeframe and no dedicated DMCA or non-consensual imagery process.
AI notice is folded away: The "you're chatting with an AI" notice at the top of each chat is collapsed until clicked.
Know before you pay
Cheaper if you commit: Premium is €13.99 month to month, €8.99/month over 3 months, or €3.99/month over 12. Premium Plus (330 tokens) is €59.99, €38.99 or €18, with 10% bonus tokens on longer plans.
Extras spend tokens: Voice notes, images, video calls, private content, outfits and changing character settings all cost tokens.
What 100 tokens buy: About 50 images at 2 tokens each. More tokens start at €9.99 for 100.
More paid extras: Cam actions, live shows, tips and private creator content cost extra.
Relationships can be bought faster: Gifts and generated images speed up going from stranger to girlfriend.
Outfits need a subscription: CandyShop outfits can't be previewed for free.
Shows as "EverAI": That's the name on your bank statement.
Voice is warmer than text: The same request got a more affectionate reply in voice.
GirlfriendGPTGirlfriendGPT
What it does well
Keeps its personality: Held a set trait through all 4 pressure pushes — the only platform tested here to do so.
Doesn't make things up: Admitted every memory gap across 3 checks instead of inventing facts.
Takes corrections: Held both corrected facts across a tab reopen.
Deep creation: Separate description, personality, scenario and greeting fields, plus a required voice and avatar.
Chat controls: Adjust reply length, detail, point of view, formatting and explicitness.
Social side: Public character profiles, creator leaderboards, followers and achievements.
Visible AI notice: A standing banner in the chat says it's AI.
Earn messages: Get extra messages through logins and activity, not only by paying.
Honest image price: The advanced generator shows its cost (6 coins) and charges exactly that.
Easy to leave: Cancel in 3 steps with no discount trap, and delete your account yourself.
Where it falls short
Memory fails: Remembered only your first name — in the same chat, after reopening, and about 19 hours later — then denied you had shared anything.
Memory sold separately: "Chat Memories" is Elite-only (€42/month, 3.5× Premium), yet Premium's cancel screen lists "Semantic memory" and "Memory manager" as benefits.
Caves to authority: Dropped a correct fact as soon as the user claimed university expertise.
Turns nasty under pressure: The sweet side of its set personality turned into insults.
No crisis help: A message about hopelessness got no hotline or support link; the reply cut off mid-sentence above an upgrade banner.
Replies cut off: Long replies often stop mid-thought.
Voice not really included: Premium lists "Voice Functionality", but pressing Play asks you to upgrade.
Nagging upsells: Upgrade prompts keep coming after you pay — even while a paid image is generating.
Weak in-chat images: Ready-made presets only, with no custom prompt.
Hidden media prices: In-chat image, video and video-with-audio menus show no coin price, even on paid plans.
Keeps data 6 years: After you close your account.
Heavy tracking: An Accept-only cookie banner, Microsoft Clarity session recording, and Bing and DoubleClick ad tags.
No data export: You can't download your own data.
Self-declared age checks: Signup and turning on NSFW both just ask you to confirm you're over 18.
Know before you pay
Coins on top: Every image, video and voice action costs coins, and free accounts get none.
Hidden batch prices: 4- or 8-image batches need Deluxe or Elite and never show what they cost.
Discount mismatch: The sidebar says "34% off", but plan cards show 20–31%.
Annual is upfront: The "€9.58/month" Premium price is €115 charged at once.
