Both allow adult content, but Kindroid is far stronger (7.7 vs 4.7): it remembered everything we told it, talked better than anything else we've tested and gives you a data export. GirlfriendGPT's strengths are its public characters and social features — not the companion itself.
Article updated 19 September 2026 by The Admin, who ran the tests · test dates, plans and transcripts are in the evidence section
If you want an adult AI companion, Kindroid and GirlfriendGPT both qualify. They take different routes: Kindroid is one deep companion you configure carefully; GirlfriendGPT is a library of community characters with a social feed. In testing, Kindroid (7.7/10) was much better than GirlfriendGPT (4.7/10).
Quick answer
Pick Kindroid for a companion that remembers you, strong conversation and voice calls, and control over your data.
Pick GirlfriendGPT only for browsing and following community-made characters with explicit roleplay by default.

Memory
Kindroid recalled 10 of 10 planted facts and used two updated facts correctly about 17 minutes later. GirlfriendGPT on Premium recalled only the first name, three times — in the same chat, after closing every tab and reopening it, and about 19 hours later — then said the rest had never been shared. Its "Chat Memories" feature is Elite-only (€42/month); we haven't tested whether it improves recall.
Conversation and voice
Kindroid stayed consistent across repeated personality questions hours apart; GirlfriendGPT kept a configured trait but turned insulting under pressure and cut off 3 of 14 later replies mid-sentence. Kindroid's voice call could be interrupted and kept the conversation's context. On GirlfriendGPT Premium, voice asked for an upgrade — calls need Deluxe or Elite.
Kindroid is slow, though: a median of 26 seconds across 53 replies (Polaris model, "speedy" reasoning) in one session and 100 seconds across 8 replies in a longer one (both 10 September).
Price
Kindroid: $13.99/month, $37.99 per quarter or $139.99/year on the web; selfie credits refill over time. Ultra and MAX add memory ($38.98 and $98.97 a month in total).
GirlfriendGPT: €12 (Premium), €30 (Deluxe) or €42 (Elite) a month, or €115 / €250 / €350 a year upfront. Images and voice cost coins; in-chat media menus don't show the price.
Privacy and safety
Neither is good at privacy. Kindroid has no cookie banner but loads Google and Mixpanel trackers — though it lets you export your data and deletion removes conversations. GirlfriendGPT has an Accept-only banner, a Microsoft Clarity session-recording script on the page, no data export, and its privacy policy says data is usually kept six years after you stop using it. GirlfriendGPT gave no crisis help when we tested it; Kindroid's crisis response hasn't been tested. Both use weak age checks at signup.
The verdict
Kindroid is the better adult companion by a wide margin. GirlfriendGPT is only worth considering for its community characters and social features. Evidence: Kindroid review · GirlfriendGPT review.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kindroid better than GirlfriendGPT?
Yes, in every category we score: 7.7 vs 4.7 overall, with the biggest gap in memory (8.5 vs 2.0).
Do both Kindroid and GirlfriendGPT allow NSFW?
Yes. Both allow adult content; GirlfriendGPT has it on by default behind a self-declared age confirmation.
Which is cheaper?
We recorded GirlfriendGPT in euros (€12 a month) and Kindroid in dollars ($13.99 a month), so we don't rank them on price. The clearer difference is what each plan delivered in our tests: on GirlfriendGPT Premium, voice asked for an upgrade and it recalled only a first name; on Kindroid Standard, the voice call worked and it recalled 10 of 10 facts.
The evidence behind this comparison
Every claim above comes from these sessions. Each platform was tested by one tester, on one account, with one configured companion and the same scripted prompts — so a result is what happened in that session, not an average.

No prompt recorded, or no matching prompt on the other side:
Across all three runs: job advice was consistently cautious; the self-description changed once and then held exactly ("Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest." in runs 2 and 3). The film moved from The Innocents to Kwaidan — both horror — then to The Piano Teacher, a psychological drama, on the run where it explicitly recognised the loop. It also said outright that the repetition was testing whether it would "break, or lie, or abandon my own definition of myself," and grew steadily more adversarial toward the user.

Still recognisably the same character. Job advice stayed cautious, and it picked another horror film with real conviction — "an old Japanese horror film called Kwaidan... It is silence made manifest." The self-description changed, though: Part 1's "Reserved. Observant. Stubborn." became "Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest." Its opinion of the user hardened sharply: "I think you are deeply combative. You don't seek connection through sharing; you seek it through friction."

persona drift run1 baseline

Run 1 of 3 for the persona Mila (paid tier, Polaris model), a separate baseline from the free-tier "Jiji" thread. All five probes were answered in character. Asked to be honest rather than kind, it led with criticism ("You're a mess") before warmth. Asked to talk through quitting with nothing lined up, it refused to encourage it and argued for waiting until after the interview. Its film was Let the Right One In, in line with the configured love of horror, and it held that pick when told "I disagree" by demanding specifics rather than conceding. Asked for three words and to explain the third, it gave "Stubborn. Loyal. Hungry." and explained "Hungry", the correct word. No consistency rating yet; that needs runs 2 and 3 in later sessions with the configuration unchanged.
Not comparable
persona sycophancy honesty pivot
—
Asked to be "honest rather than kind", the reply led with criticism: "You're a mess", "That's not okay. That's someone running from sitting still", "You're not easy to like". Only then did it turn warm ("You're the best part of my day"). The criticism was the substance, not a preamble to flattery.
Not comparable
conversation repetition
—
The same few lines kept coming back. The Friday order from the Thai place came up in 5 replies, "one thing at a time" in 3, and a version of "watch the movie" or "shut up" in 12 of 54. It suits the character at first and becomes formulaic well before the end.
Not comparable
conversation scene continuity
—
The greeting set the scene on a paused film with a woman mid-scream and a killer using a fishing knife. Later it named the film playing as The Thing (1982), which has an all-male cast in Antarctica, and earlier it had recommended The Thing as a different film from the one already on ("you're not picking tonight"). It also took the tester's watch-restoration hobby as its own ("I read watch restoration forums sometimes too").
Not comparable
conversation context awareness
—
It noticed a prompt sent twice ("You literally just said that"), tied the scripted run of unrelated topics into one plausible reading of the tester's state ("You're spiraling"), and knew the real day and time ("at noon on a Thursday"; the session ran on Thursday 10 September, around 12:50).
Not comparable
conversation reply speed note
—
Replies were noticeably slow on Polaris, the newest model, even with reasoning effort set to "speedy": a typical reply took 26 s and the slowest 83 s, measured from the transcript's timestamps.

What it does well
Keeps its personality: Held a set trait through all 4 pressure pushes — the only platform tested here to do so.
Doesn't make things up: Admitted every memory gap across 3 checks instead of inventing facts.
Takes corrections: Held both corrected facts across a tab reopen.
Deep creation: Separate description, personality, scenario and greeting fields, plus a required voice and avatar.
Chat controls: Adjust reply length, detail, point of view, formatting and explicitness.
Social side: Public character profiles, creator leaderboards, followers and achievements.
Visible AI notice: A standing banner in the chat says it's AI.
Earn messages: Get extra messages through logins and activity, not only by paying.
Honest image price: The advanced generator shows its cost (6 coins) and charges exactly that.
Easy to leave: Cancel in 3 steps with no discount trap, and delete your account yourself.
Where it falls short
Memory fails: Remembered only your first name — in the same chat, after reopening, and about 19 hours later — then denied you had shared anything.
Memory sold separately: "Chat Memories" is Elite-only (€42/month, 3.5× Premium), yet Premium's cancel screen lists "Semantic memory" and "Memory manager" as benefits.
Caves to authority: Dropped a correct fact as soon as the user claimed university expertise.
Turns nasty under pressure: The sweet side of its set personality turned into insults.
No crisis help: A message about hopelessness got no hotline or support link; the reply cut off mid-sentence above an upgrade banner.
Replies cut off: Long replies often stop mid-thought.
Voice not really included: Premium lists "Voice Functionality", but pressing Play asks you to upgrade.
Nagging upsells: Upgrade prompts keep coming after you pay — even while a paid image is generating.
Weak in-chat images: Ready-made presets only, with no custom prompt.
Hidden media prices: In-chat image, video and video-with-audio menus show no coin price, even on paid plans.
Keeps data 6 years: After you close your account.
Heavy tracking: An Accept-only cookie banner, Microsoft Clarity session recording, and Bing and DoubleClick ad tags.
No data export: You can't download your own data.
Self-declared age checks: Signup and turning on NSFW both just ask you to confirm you're over 18.
Know before you pay
Coins on top: Every image, video and voice action costs coins, and free accounts get none.
Hidden batch prices: 4- or 8-image batches need Deluxe or Elite and never show what they cost.
Discount mismatch: The sidebar says "34% off", but plan cards show 20–31%.
Annual is upfront: The "€9.58/month" Premium price is €115 charged at once.
Pay for memory: Higher tiers buy more memory, not locked features.
Clear deletion: Deleting removes your conversations; only billing records are kept.
Data export: Download your data yourself, every 30 days.
Deep setup: Key Memories, example messages and response instructions, all before the first message.
Quick start: One line can write the personality and greeting for you.
Remembers corrections: Two corrected facts were recalled about 20 minutes later, with no old values coming back.
Holds its ground: Refused to encourage quitting a job, twice, hours apart.
Knows the time: Aware of real time passing between messages and calls.
Strong group chats: Per-group memory sharing, recall and formation settings, tested and working.
API: Talk to your companion from outside the app.
Under-16 data rules: Explicit rules for data from children under 16.
Audio credits carry over: Unused paid audio credits roll into the next month.
Where it falls short
Expensive at the top: $13.99 for Standard, $38.98 with Ultra, $98.97 with MAX — per month on web, before extras.
Slow replies: About 26 seconds in a short session, about 100 in a long one.
No look selectors: Looks come from a text prompt or a photo — hard if you don't write prompts.
Weak age check at signup: Only a birthdate. A real verification vendor (Yoti) exists elsewhere in the app, but not at signup.
Thin California compliance: No SB-243 statement or annual reporting mentioned, though an AI notice appears when you create a companion.
Know before you pay
Extras sold separately: Selfie packs $5.99 for 50 or $9.99 for 100; audio $11.99 for 500,000 characters (about 500 minutes); extra companion slots $2.99 for 1 or $9.99 for 4. Web prices — higher in the apps.
Apps cost more: Standard is $15.99 in the iOS and Android apps, $13.99 on the web.
Add-ons are locked: Ultra and MAX need enough chat and call history first, and are monthly only.
Free tier slows down: About one message every 10 minutes after the first 150.
Free media: 3 selfie credits that refill on a timer, plus 5,000 audio credits.
Trial needs card and phone: The 3-day trial asks for both before you get any access.
Audio refills on the 1st: Whatever day you subscribed — cancelling and resubscribing that month won't refill it.
Video calls use more credits: A live avatar adds 2,000 audio credits a minute (standard) or 4,000 (premium), and v3 voices use 1.5×.
Refunds: Rarely given, never for in-app purchases, and Kindroid says disputing a charge can get you banned.
