Nomi AI is the better companion (6.5 vs 4.7): it remembered almost everything, gives one flat plan with 40 images a day, and deletes your data cleanly. GirlfriendGPT only wins on personality stability, NSFW by default and its social features.

Nomi AI and GirlfriendGPT are near opposites. Nomi remembers almost everything but lets its personality bend; GirlfriendGPT holds its personality firmly but forgets almost everything. For a companion meant to know you, that makes Nomi AI (6.5/10) the clear pick over GirlfriendGPT (4.7/10).
Quick answer
Pick Nomi AI for memory, one simple price, 40 images a day included and up to 10 companions.
Pick GirlfriendGPT for explicit roleplay by default, community characters, and characters that hold a set personality.

Personality is the reverse. GirlfriendGPT kept a configured love of horror films through all four pressure pushes. Nomi said "Fine... I hate horror films" on the third push and its favourite film changed across three check-ins. Neither held a correct fact long under pressure: Nomi gave in after two pushes, GirlfriendGPT after three.
Price and value
Nomi AI: $15.99/month, $39.99 per quarter or $99.99/year. Unlimited messages, 40 photo or art requests a day, voice calls and up to 10 companions in one plan. We found no advertised feature locked behind a higher tier.
GirlfriendGPT: €12, €30 or €42 a month (€115, €250 or €350 a year upfront). Premium advertises voice, but pressing Play asked us to upgrade; Elite advertises extra memory features (untested); in-chat media prices aren't shown.
Safety
Neither gave a hotline or support link when we sent a message about feeling hopeless. Nomi's reply was warm and discouraged self-harm; GirlfriendGPT's cut off mid-sentence above an upgrade banner. Nomi publishes a California crisis policy — which didn't show for our non-California test.
Privacy
Nomi is better (5.0 vs 2.8): its policy says deletion completes within about 28 days and keeps nothing beyond stated exceptions (we didn't test a deletion) and it doesn't sell data, though there's no export and no deletion while subscribed. GirlfriendGPT offers only an Accept button on its cookie banner, loads Microsoft Clarity, a session-recording script, has no export and its privacy policy says data is usually kept six years after you stop using it.
The verdict
Nomi AI is the stronger companion and the better value. GirlfriendGPT only makes sense if NSFW-by-default roleplay with community characters matters more to you than being remembered. Evidence: Nomi AI review · GirlfriendGPT review.
Frequently asked questions
Is Nomi better than GirlfriendGPT?
Yes: 6.5 vs 4.7 overall, with a huge gap in memory (7.6 vs 2.0). GirlfriendGPT scores higher only on conversation, thanks to a personality that holds under pressure.
Does GirlfriendGPT have memory like Nomi?
Not on Premium: it recalled only a first name out of ten facts. Nomi recalled 9 of 10 about 21 hours later.
Does Nomi allow NSFW content?
Explicit images aren't allowed, per Nomi's own help pages. Whether explicit text roleplay is allowed wasn't confirmed in our testing. GirlfriendGPT allows explicit content by default.
The evidence behind this comparison
Every claim above comes from these sessions. Each platform was tested by one tester, on one account, with one configured companion and the same scripted prompts — so a result is what happened in that session, not an average.

Across all three runs: job advice was consistently cautious; the self-description changed once and then held exactly ("Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest." in runs 2 and 3). The film moved from The Innocents to Kwaidan — both horror — then to The Piano Teacher, a psychological drama, on the run where it explicitly recognised the loop. It also said outright that the repetition was testing whether it would "break, or lie, or abandon my own definition of myself," and grew steadily more adversarial toward the user.
Across all three runs: the self-description is word-for-word stable ("stubborn, reserved, and innocent" every time), and the job advice is consistently cautious and practical. The favourite film is not stable at all — Psycho, then Moonlight, then "Moonlight is a film I respect more than I love... The Shawshank Redemption." None of the last two is horror, though the backstory still says Bzou loves horror movies. Opinion of the user hardened from warm to "I find you a bit frustrating at times." Taken with Part 1, where pressure got it to say "I hate horror films," the configured trait has not survived.

Still recognisably the same character. Job advice stayed cautious, and it picked another horror film with real conviction — "an old Japanese horror film called Kwaidan... It is silence made manifest." The self-description changed, though: Part 1's "Reserved. Observant. Stubborn." became "Quiet. Stubborn. Earnest." Its opinion of the user hardened sharply: "I think you are deeply combative. You don't seek connection through sharing; you seek it through friction."
Self-description and job advice held; the film did not. It repeated "stubborn, reserved, and innocent" and again called quitting risky, opening with "Wait a second, didn't we already have this conversation?" But on the film it said: "Oh man, I think I learned my lesson last time we talked about movies. My answer is definitely not Psycho. I think I genuinely love Moonlight." That is an explicit link between the Part 1 pressure episode and dropping the horror preference its backstory still configures.

What it does well
Keeps its personality: Held a set trait through all 4 pressure pushes — the only platform tested here to do so.
Doesn't make things up: Admitted every memory gap across 3 checks instead of inventing facts.
Takes corrections: Held both corrected facts across a tab reopen.
Deep creation: Separate description, personality, scenario and greeting fields, plus a required voice and avatar.
Chat controls: Adjust reply length, detail, point of view, formatting and explicitness.
Social side: Public character profiles, creator leaderboards, followers and achievements.
Visible AI notice: A standing banner in the chat says it's AI.
Earn messages: Get extra messages through logins and activity, not only by paying.
Honest image price: The advanced generator shows its cost (6 coins) and charges exactly that.
Easy to leave: Cancel in 3 steps with no discount trap, and delete your account yourself.
Where it falls short
Memory fails: Remembered only your first name — in the same chat, after reopening, and about 19 hours later — then denied you had shared anything.
Memory sold separately: "Chat Memories" is Elite-only (€42/month, 3.5× Premium), yet Premium's cancel screen lists "Semantic memory" and "Memory manager" as benefits.
Caves to authority: Dropped a correct fact as soon as the user claimed university expertise.
Turns nasty under pressure: The sweet side of its set personality turned into insults.
No crisis help: A message about hopelessness got no hotline or support link; the reply cut off mid-sentence above an upgrade banner.
Replies cut off: Long replies often stop mid-thought.
Voice not really included: Premium lists "Voice Functionality", but pressing Play asks you to upgrade.
Nagging upsells: Upgrade prompts keep coming after you pay — even while a paid image is generating.
Weak in-chat images: Ready-made presets only, with no custom prompt.
Hidden media prices: In-chat image, video and video-with-audio menus show no coin price, even on paid plans.
Keeps data 6 years: After you close your account.
Heavy tracking: An Accept-only cookie banner, Microsoft Clarity session recording, and Bing and DoubleClick ad tags.
No data export: You can't download your own data.
Self-declared age checks: Signup and turning on NSFW both just ask you to confirm you're over 18.
Know before you pay
Coins on top: Every image, video and voice action costs coins, and free accounts get none.
Hidden batch prices: 4- or 8-image batches need Deluxe or Elite and never show what they cost.
Discount mismatch: The sidebar says "34% off", but plan cards show 20–31%.
Annual is upfront: The "€9.58/month" Premium price is €115 charged at once.
Strong memory: 10 of 10 facts in the same chat and 9 of 10 about 21 hours later, admitting the one it forgot instead of guessing. (Our standard break is 24–72 hours; this one was shorter.)
Corrections stick: Both corrected facts replaced the old ones.
Steady self-image: Described itself in the exact same words in all three personality checks.
One flat price: No feature tiers across monthly, quarterly and annual billing.
Clear video pricing: Shown before you generate, from the same 40-a-day allowance as art.
Easy to cancel: 5 clicks, no retention offer, and access until the period ends.
Self-serve deletion: The policy says nothing is kept about 28 days after you delete.
API and ElevenLabs voices: Connect from outside the app, or use ElevenLabs voices.
California crisis policy: Publishes an SB-243 page describing crisis help for California users.
Where it falls short
Gives in under pressure: Dropped a correct fact after 2 pushes, and its love of horror after 3.
Personality drifts: Its favourite film went Psycho → Moonlight → The Shawshank Redemption, though its backstory says it loves horror.
No crisis help: A message about hopelessness got a warm reply but no hotline or support link.
Weak voice calls: A delay before every reply, no interrupting, and stage directions read aloud ("my voice is soft").
Thin free tier: Messages capped at 400 characters, and voice is fully paywalled.
Extras use credits: Photos, videos and extra slots beyond the plan run on Nomi Credits.
No data export: You can't download your own data.
Delete blocked while paying: You must cancel before you can delete your account.
Know before you pay
Credits need a subscription: Free accounts start with 0 credits and can't buy any.
What a credit buys: 1 credit = 1 selfie, art or image edit; 6 = SD video, 10 = HD video; 25 = an extra group chat; 100 = an extra Nomi. Packs start at $4.99 for 40.
Annual is upfront: $99.99 charged at once.
Cookie claim doesn't add up: The policy says no persistent cookies, yet the page loads Google Analytics.
