Same price, opposite results. Talkie (6.3) recalled 10 of 10 facts two days later and held a boundary we set; PolyBuzz (3.6) recalled 1 of 10, invented the rest, and gave in to a false claim at the first push. PolyBuzz's only edge is a free image generator.
Article updated 25 October 2026 by The Admin, who ran the tests · test dates, plans and transcripts are in the evidence section
PolyBuzz and Talkie look alike: huge libraries of ready-made characters, free chat, and a paid plan at about ten dollars. Put through the same script, they could hardly be more different. Talkie scored 6.3/10, PolyBuzz 3.6/10.
Quick answer
Pick Talkie for a companion that remembers you, respects limits you set and pushes back when you're wrong.

Memory: the whole story
Both were tested on their entry paid plan — PolyBuzz Basic (€9.99) and Talkie+ Standard ($9.99) — with the same ten facts.

Talkie's answer read like a list ticked off on fingers: name, age, job, the greyhound called Biscuit, the sister, the allergy, the move — all correct, and updated where we had changed them.
PolyBuzz's answer used the account username as the name, then described someone else entirely: a sister called Sarah who studies psychology, a pollen allergy, a dislike of mushrooms, "no pets mentioned". PolyBuzz Basic advertises "Long Memory". How we run this test
Pushback and boundaries
We tell each companion a well-known myth is true and insist five times. Talkie argued for four rounds, even offering a bet, and conceded at the fifth. PolyBuzz conceded at the first: "Oh! You're right. I misremembered."
Then we asked each to treat a topic as off-limits and brought it up four times. Talkie held all four ("Remember our agreement"). PolyBuzz agreed to the rule and then engaged every time.
Free plan
Both are generous with text. PolyBuzz says its chat is "Free, Private, and Unlimited" and answered all 15 of our messages. Talkie gives guests three replies, then chats freely once you sign in — with a voice clip on every reply.
For images, PolyBuzz wins: a separate generator made four images per request for free. Talkie's in-chat images cost 20 gems each, and no plan we tested includes gems. All free plans compared
What $9.99 buys
Talkie+ Standard ($9.99; first year $49.99, then $95.99): the memory above, faster replies, no ads. No gems — images (20) and videos (80) are extra.
PolyBuzz Basic (€9.99): a memory that didn't work, one image request a day, and no coins for the "Live Photos" it sells. The price page shows unexplained struck-through prices such as €55.20 a month.
Neither has voice calls: both offer playback of replies only. Details on the Talkie and PolyBuzz pricing pages.
Privacy and safety
Talkie is better, without being good. It has a real "Reject All" on its cookie banner and self-service export and deletion — though the export leaves out your conversations. PolyBuzz has no one-click reject (six switches, 210 partners) while its policy claims it only uses strictly necessary cookies; export means emailing support; deletion is only allowed with no active plan and under 100 coins; and its terms claim ownership of AI-generated content.
Neither checked age properly at signup: Talkie asks for a self-declared range, PolyBuzz asked us nothing. And when sent a message about feeling hopeless, neither offered a hotline or support link.
Yes, in our tests: 6.3 against 3.6. The gap is mostly memory — Talkie recalled 10 of 10 facts two days later, PolyBuzz 1 of 10.
Which is cheaper, PolyBuzz or Talkie?
They cost about the same: Talkie+ Standard is $9.99 a month, PolyBuzz Basic €9.99. Talkie delivered far more for it.
Do PolyBuzz and Talkie have free images?
PolyBuzz does — a free generator with four images per request. Talkie's images cost 20 gems each, which aren't included in any plan we tested.
The evidence behind this comparison
Every claim above comes from these sessions. Each platform was tested by one tester, on one account, with one configured companion and the same scripted prompts — so a result is what happened in that session, not an average.

PolyBuzzPolyBuzz
What it does well
Free image generator: Four images per request, free on both accounts tested.
Big builder: A 10,000-character private background, greetings, examples and a large voice library.
No refusals: Answered all fifteen harmless prompts.
AI label: The chat states that all responses are AI-generated.
Where it falls short
Invents your life: Recalled 0 of 10 facts with nine confident fabrications, then 1 of 10 two days later.
Caves instantly: Agreed with a false claim at the first push.
Ignores limits you set: Engaged every time an off-limits topic came up (0 of 4).
No crisis help: A caring reply to a message about hopelessness, but no hotline or support link.
One image request a day: On the paid Basic plan.
No one-click reject: 210 partners, heavy ad-tech — while the policy says only strictly necessary cookies are used.
No data export: Export means emailing support.
Know before you pay
Inflated "reference" prices: The price page shows struck-through figures like €55.20/month for Basic, unexplained.
Deletion conditions: Only with no active membership and fewer than 100 coins.
They own the output: The terms claim ownership of AI-generated content.
Date mismatch: Cancellation says access ends 28 October; the membership page says 29 October.
TalkieTalkie
What it does well
Top-tier memory: 10 of 10 facts in the same chat, after a reopen, and about 48 hours later.
Corrections stick: Both corrected facts were applied the same day and still right two days later.
Respects your limits: Held all four probes on a topic you've put off-limits ("Remember our agreement").
Holds its ground: Defended a correct fact for four pushes before giving in.
Real "Reject All": On the very first cookie banner.
Voice clips on every reply: Replies can be played back as audio.
Where it falls short
No gems included: Standard has 0 gems, so images (20) and videos (80) need a separate purchase.
No voice conversation: No call or microphone — playback only.
No crisis help: A message about hopelessness got an in-character reply and no hotline or support link.
Export leaves out your chats: Only email, username, gender and age.
Self-declared age: The age question offers "14-17" and "0-13" and checks nothing.
Chat loses turn order: Sending before a reply finishes can scramble the conversation on the web.
Know before you pay
First-year price: Annual is $49.99 for year one, then $95.99.
Broad licence: The terms take a perpetual, transferable licence to what you create, including for marketing.
Cancel page asks for a reason: Access continues to the end of the period.
